Confidence in Compliance

Moores Metals Ltd is a well-established scrap metal processor and ATF operating out of Stoke-on-Trent. As a registered AATF under the WEEE Regulations, they handle a mix of light iron and electrical waste but like many independent operators, their WEEE volumes were non-commercial and largely cost-driven.

In April 2025, Moores faced a serious compliance challenge: their AATF status was suspended by the Environment Agency due to concerns around reporting, downstream transparency, and evidence submission. With AATF approval critical to maintaining business credibility and operational scope, they turned to WEEEvolution for urgent support.

From Suspension to Solution

WEEEvolution provided end-to-end guidance to support Moores Metals through the suspension period and beyond. Working closely with Damian and his team, we:

  • Carried out a structured review of their WEEE operations and documentation

  • Drafted and submitted a detailed technical response to the Environment Agency

  • Developed updated reporting and evidence procedures to align with EA expectations

  • Delivered revised documentation including Toolbox Talk content and site paperwork

  • Supported the client in preparing accurate quarterly AATF returns

  • Maintained clear communication with the EA to ensure transparency and resolution

Damian later wrote:

“Dan guided us through every step of the technical response, helping us engage constructively with the Agency and resolve complex regulatory issues. His deep understanding of WEEE compliance, evidence reporting, and operational site processes was matched by his ability to explain the requirements clearly to both directors and site operatives.”

The result? Full reinstatement of their AATF status and confidence moving forward.

Why It Matters for Other Operators

Moores’ situation is far from unique. Many small to mid-sized scrap yards and ATFs:

  • Don’t profit from WEEE but still carry the compliance burden

  • Are unsure how to separate or report WEEE correctly

  • Fear an EA audit or don’t know how to handle enforcement

  • Lack internal time or expertise to respond properly

If this sounds familiar, WEEEvolution can help.

We offer:

  • Clear, jargon-free advice tailored to small operators

  • Support with training, documentation, and EA engagement

  • Expertise in AATF applications, returns, and evidence systems

  • Flexible pricing based on your needs; not one-size-fits-all packages

Whether you’re trying to regain lost status, get your first AATF approval, or just want peace of mind that your systems can withstand EA scrutiny — we’re here to support you.
